Police on Tuesday detained a couple in connection with alleged theft of a newborn baby girl. The infant was allegedly stolen from the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) of SCB Medical College and Hospital on Monday.
A woman from Pratapnagari area along with her husband was detained when she went to the hospital to return the baby girl.
The doctors have been charged under Sections 341, 323, 506 (Criminal intimidation), 294 of IPC.
As expected, the newly set up Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) unit at the Cuttack SCB Medical College has swung into action with full speed. As many as two patients have been admitted to the special life-support ward of the hospital in the last two days.
