Bhubaneswar: Six members of a family embarked on a journey in a car from Rourkela to Bhubaneswar Friday night. Hardly did they know that their journey would turn fatal. Late last night near Kamgara on Kamakhyanagar-Dhenkanal road in Dhenkanal district, their car suddenly lost balance and turned turtle after hitting a wild boar on the way.

In the fateful incident, an elderly man and his daughter-in-law died on the spot. Four other members of the family- his wife, son, and two grand children (5-year-old grandson & 9-year-old granddaughter) were rushed to Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack in critical condition.

As per latest reports, his wife has succumbed to the injuries at the SCB hospital.

Meanwhile, police have rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation into the mishap.

In another incident in Rourkela today, five persons sustained injuries following a head-on collision between a bus and a truck near TCI chhak under Brahmani Tarang Police limits.

Reportedly, four passengers of the bus and the truck driver have been injured. The 'Gupta' bus was en route to Gaya late last night when it collided with the truck.

Soon after the mishap, all the injured were rescued by Police and Odisha Fire Services personnel and admitted to nearby hospital.
