In the 2024 polls, there will be a direct contest with Naveen Patnaik in Odisha, said Amit Shah during an interview with a private news channel on Friday.
BJP spokesperson Anil Biswal alleged, “The 5T was an undemocratic system and it was a political programme. The Election Commission of India has deemed it a political programme and took action. Rs 500 crore was spent for 5T publicity and Rs 50 to Rs 60 crore was spent towards helicopter rides.”
The residents of the constituency never shy away from alleging that the constituency has not developed as it should have been, considering the Chief Minister representing it for such a long period.
Of the total 126 candidates announced by BJD, 28 are women and, 10 of them are the wives of party heavyweights.
BJD MLA Nrushingha Sahu said that tickets are being distributed on the basis of a survey and the party will decide about the rehabilitation of leaders who are denied tickets.

The BJD is said to be intending to make inroads into the saffron turf and wipe out Congress so that the party would revitalize its weak organisation in Bolangir.
Interestingly, given the number of candidates announced each time, an emerging pattern has caught the attention of many observers. Many believe that the number 9 seems key to the party which seems to be banking on numerology this time.
