Interestingly, given the number of candidates announced each time, an emerging pattern has caught the attention of many observers. Many believe that the number 9 seems key to the party which seems to be banking on numerology this time. 

As speculated, BJD supremo and Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik will contest from Kantabanji Assembly seat in the upcoming 2024 elections. 

Speculations suggest that Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik might run from Kantabanji in the 2024 elections to strengthen BJD's position against BJP and Congress, especially in key districts like Bolangir and Kalahandi.

An unfortunate incident was reported from Muniguda in Rayagada. Law Minister and BJD candidate for Bissamcuttack, Jagannath Saraka was campaigning at Raghubari village on Sunday when a youth BJD leader accompanying him allegedly attacked one person and abused the villagers, who raised the issue of drinking water crisis in the area.

Suresh Pujari, Alaka Mohanty and Kishore Patel of BJP, BJD and Congress respectively are leaving no stone unturned to woo voters.

Supporters of sitting BJD MLA Raghunandan Das who have been waiting for the party’s decision, gathered at the legislator's residence in Bhubaneswar on Saturday. They are said to be sceptical of the candidature of the incumbent MLA.

Besides BJD, BJP and Congress have also attracted the ire of the Kui Samaj for fielding candidates from outside of the district. 

In Nilagiri, the BJD stands divided into two camps as sitting MLA Sukant Nayak quit the BJP and joined the BJD. However, BJD leader Santosh Khatua, who has long been looking after the party organisation with the hope of a party ticket in the 2024 elections, has become belligerent. 

Without taking BJD leader VK Pandian’s name, Odisha BJP Vice President, Biranchi Tripathy on Saturday took a swipe at the ruling BJD saying the party has been hijacked by an officer in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).  

Kulesika alleged that the BJD has been selling tickets for Assembly seats. He further said that the ruling party also tried to ‘buy’ him by paying Rs 1 crore. He also alleged mining lobby in the region.

The BJD alleged that the Chilika MLA got angry after a few youths asked some questions. In its complaint, the BJD also alleged that Prashant Jagdev threatened Police after the journalist lodged FIR against him.

Soon after the announcement of BJD leader Prasanna Acharya's name for Sambalpur Assembly seat, BJP leader and candidate for the same seat said the former's selection reflects BJD's hatred towards Sambalpur.
