In the 2024 polls, there will be a direct contest with Naveen Patnaik in Odisha, said Amit Shah during an interview with a private news channel on Friday.

While revealing BJP's strategy to go solo in Odisha, Union Home Minister and senior party leader, Amit Shah said that there is no confusion in our stance and we are in a direct contest in the state.

"We have decided to contest the elections alone for the Odia language, culture and pride. The decision was taken based on the feedback from the party workers on the ground. Our decision to contest alone in Odisha not only reflects the opinion of our party workers, but I think it is the wish of the people of the State as well," said Amit Shah in the interview.

Amit Shah also urged the people of Odisha to give a chance to the leadership of Narendra Modi to usher in development for the state.

A long suspense had prevailed over the possibility of an alliance between the BJP and the BJD in Odisha and even Amit Shah had said in another interview, "Anything can happen but first let's see if we will fight alone or go along with the BJD... If we go alone, we will fight to form the government."

However, the BJP finally ruled out an alliance and decided to fight elections alone in Odisha.
