Actress Varsha Priyadarshini steps into ex-husband’s shoes, joins BJD 

Actress Varsha Priyadarshini, ex-wife of actor-turned-politician Anubhav Mohanty, joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Thursday. 

The actress was inducted into the party at a programme held at BJD's office, Sankha Bhawan, in the presence of leaders including Sasmit Patra, just weeks after her estranged husband’s resignation from the party. 

After joining the conch party, the actress said, “Since the day I knew Naveen Patnaik, I have become his fan. The big thing about him is that he is a very simple man who talks less and works more.”

Varsha has added her name to the long list of actors and actresses joining politics in Odisha. 

Notably, the actress’ estranged husband Anubhav Mohanty had parted ways with the BJD on March 30 and subsequently joined the BJP on April 1. 

The duo got divorced following a court order earlier this year.
