Students at Rama Devi Women's University in Bhubaneswar protested to postpone their semester exams, citing severe heatwave conditions in Odisha. They argue that the hostile weather impedes their ability to perform academically, noting that other universities have already delayed exams.
BJP leader Mohan Majhi said, "The Home Minister has advised all party leaders to work with confidence. He said if the party could win polls in states with 2 to 6 per cent of votes, there would be no hurdles in Odisha, where it got 34 per cent votes in 2019."
Speaking to the media, one of the detainees said, "We are from Delhi. Police detained us for carrying this snake. We were asking for alms by showing the snake.”
