Indian Railways has announced that the Bhubaneswar–Rourkela Intercity Superfast Express (Train Nos 22840/22839) will remain cancelled in both directions on September 10, 2025, owing to the late arrival of link rakes.

This superfast service, operated by the South Eastern Railway zone, is a daily fixture between Bhubaneswar and Rourkela, covering approximately 419 kilometres in 7 hours 35 minutes with an average speed of 55 km/h, including 14 intermediate halts

The train departs Bhubaneswar at 13:40 hours and is scheduled to reach Rourkela at 21:15 hours. Key stations en route include Naraj, Marthapur, Dhenkanal, Hindol Road, Meramandolil, Talcher Road, Angul, Boinda, Rairakhol, Sambalpur City, Rengali, Jharsuguda Junction, Bagdihi, Bamra, and Rajgangpur

The maximum permissible speed on one section—from Jharsuguda Junction to Rourkela—is 130 km/h.

Passengers planning to travel on this route are advised to take note of the cancellation and consider alternative arrangements.
