Subhadra Yojana: Left-out but eligible Odisha women to be included, says Deputy CM

PUBLISHED: LAST UPDATE:

Odisha's Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida announced that eligible women previously left out of the Subhadra Yojana may soon be included. A crucial review meeting will assess verified data from key departments to ensure rightful beneficiaries are added. The move aims to uphold the scheme’s integrity and ensure no eligible woman is deprived of her entitlement.

Women who were previously excluded from the ambitious Subhadra Yojana may soon find themselves back on the beneficiary list. A key review meeting is scheduled for tomorrow to assess the status of these left-out women and consider their inclusion.

This was informed on Tuesday by Odisha Deputy CM Pravati Parida.

Ahead of the meeting, the Women and Child Development Department had sought specific data from three major departments, Transport, Food Supplies, and Health, to verify eligibility and cross-check existing records. The data will be used to take a final call on re-inclusion.

The Commerce and Transport Department was asked to provide details on women who own or operate four-wheelers. The Health Department was tasked with verifying whether any excluded beneficiaries had passed away, ensuring no invalid names remain on the list.

Meanwhile, the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department was instructed to report how many women, especially those who sold paddy, had registered land in their names, a key eligibility criterion.

Based on the findings from these departments, tomorrow's key review meeting will focus on potentially reinstating genuine beneficiaries who were mistakenly excluded. A final decision on their inclusion in the Subhadra scheme is expected to be taken during this session.

“We have clarified from the beginning that not a single eligible woman will be deprived of the benefits of Subhadra Yojana. At the time when we are getting verified facts, we are including the beneficiaries afresh to the list,” Deputy CM Parida said.

“Hence, I think, the clarifications sought from the three departments will be discussed in a key review meeting of Subhadra Yojana scheduled tomorrow. I will provide further details to the media thereafter,” the Deputy CM added.
