Ahead of the 3rd Installment disbursement of Subhadra Yojana on Raksha Bandhan, the Odisha government has launched a large-scale beneficiary review, sources said on Wednesday.
The joint initiative aims to assess ground-level implementation and ensure the rightful inclusion of around 1.88 lakh women beneficiaries who missed previous disbursements.
According to official sources, a comprehensive review of the ambitious Subhadra scheme has commenced ahead of the upcoming Raksha Bandhan (Rakhi Purnima in local parlance), during which the third installment of the scheme is scheduled to be disbursed.
Odisha’s Deputy CM Pravati Parida announced the move while launching the review process at Sunny Vihar Anganwadi Centre in Unit 9, Bhubaneswar.
The evaluation is a joint effort between Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Sambalpur and the Department of Women and Child Development (W&CD).
As part of this effort, feedback from around 22,000 beneficiaries across different regions of the State will be collected within the next month. National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers and other social service groups will assist in the data collection.
Significantly, the review will also address the plight of 1.88 lakh eligible women who were left out of the second installment. The W&CD department will finalise the modalities within two to three days to enable eligible women to receive the missed funds.
Following this process, the State will begin considering new applications for future inclusion under the scheme, as confirmed by Deputy CM Parida.
“We have to meet 22,000 women belonging to different regions of the State, and feedback will be collected from them. The third installment will be disbursed on Raksha Bandhan. Discussions will be held on those beneficiaries who were left out for different reasons,” the Deputy CM stated while briefing to mediapersons.
“Modalities will be fixed soon to include those 1.88 lakh left out and eligible women into the scheme. Date and time of disbursement (for second installment) to the shortlisted women will be announced thereafter,” the Deputy CM added.
