The Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar has issued ‘Yellow Warning’ for heavy rainfall activities in several districts of the State.

A severe fire erupted in a luxury apartment near Patia chhak, Bhubaneswar, suspected to be caused by an AC unit explosion. Firefighters and police rapidly responded, evacuating residents safely without any casualties. The incident filled the building with dense smoke, impacting visibility and raising alarms among the inhabitants.

The minor child reportedly saw a balloon floating in the drain where the rainwater was flowing. The current was said to be strong. He went to collect the balloon but unfortunately was swept away in the drain water. 

The body has been seized. Following an investigation into the incident, both the accused have been arrested

A Bhubaneswar-bound Air India Express flight was diverted to Kolkata due to severe weather, stranding passengers who were later asked to return at their own expense. Following passenger outrage, arrangements were made for their return.

Orissa High Court granted bail to Khordha MLA Prashant Jagdev, previously arrested for his alleged involvement in an EVM toppling incident during the Odisha elections. Conditions will be set by a lower court.

A special security meeting in this regard was held by the Commissionerate of Police on Tuesday. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah along with other dignitaries will be present during the oath-taking ceremony, massive security cover will be in place for the grand event.

Manorama Mohanty, director of IMD Bhubaneswar said, “The Southwest Monsoon usually arrives in Odisha towards the second week of June – 12th or 13th. We expect the Monsoon to touch south Odisha in the next three to four days. Till now, conditions are favourable."

Tension spread at a gas depot in Jatani, Odisha, after a contractual worker died when a truck loaded with gas cylinders ran over him. His co-workers protested, demanding compensation and highlighting negligence.

Bimalananda Bhuyan and his wife defrauded over 100 individuals before fleeing. The case unfolded after a victim's complaint led to an extensive investigation.
