Of the total 126 candidates announced by BJD, 28 are women and, 10 of them are the wives of party heavyweights.

The Election Commission of India reported handling around 200 complaints from various parties since the Model Code of Conduct took effect on March 16, with most resolved effectively. The complaint pointed out that “unsubstantiated accusations” were made by Tharoor during an interview programme hosted by a television news channel.

The manifesto was presented by BJP's Manifesto Committee head and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and other top party leaders.
