Paralakhemundi is an ancient town and a Municipality in Gajapati district in the Indian state of Odisha. It is the district headquarters of Gajapati district. The town and the District share its boundaries with Andhra Pradesh. The king of Paralakhemundi Shri Krushna Chandra Gajapati Narayan Deo had the kingship of the majestic Gajapati rulers, who continued to be the supreme authority of Odisha for more than seven centuries. Also he was the first Prime Minister of Odisha.
