Bhubaneswar: The mystery surrounding the alleged murder of Paralakhemundi Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra deepened further after father of the slain officer on Monday pointed an accusing finger at a woman police inspector of Gajapati in the diabolic murder plot.

Abhiram Mohapatra, Soumya’s father, also demanded lie-detection test of the Paralakhemundi DFO, Soumya's wife and cook who are suspected to be behind the murder of the young forest officer.

In a memorandum submitted to the DGP, Odisha, Abhiram has demanded polygraph test of the trio to find out the truth and unravel the murder mystery.

“A police inspector named Mamata Rani Panda had detained the ambulance carrying my son to a hospital for over an hour. Moreover, why was my son shifted to far off Cuttack when medical facilities were available in the nearby localities? I suspect the role of my daughter-in-law, DFO and the cook in the murder, along with Mamata Rani Panda who should be brought under the purview of investigation,” Abhiram said.

“I demand the DFO, Bidya Bharati and the cook should undergo lie detection test. The DGP had assured us to ensure justice,” Abhiram said.

Mamata Rani is a local IIC who is a related to Bidya Bharati. She had detained the ambulance at Berhampur for hours, Abhiram alleged.
He further claimed that Mamata Rani had taken away all articles including her clothes and cosmetics of Bidya Bharati from the quarters leaving behind Soumya’s dress materials and other articles in the official residence.

Later, Abhiram also met the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) and submitted a memorandum demanding suspension of Paralakhemundi DFO Sangram Keshari Behera and the forest guard.
