Colleges, varsities gear up for Students’ union poll

Bhubaneswar: Students across the state have geared up for the union elections in the colleges and universities to be held on October 14. Though the notification regarding the election will be issued on October 3, full fledged campaigning has already begun in the various college and university campuses.

However, the college authorities are keeping strict vigil on the campus to avoid any untoward situation among the students. If there is any kind of aggression or violence seen on the college premises then the election might get cancelled.

Meanwhile, the candidates for the elections are hopeful of proper functioning of the election process.

Notably, the candidates can file their nomination on October 5. However, the last date of withdrawal of nomination is by October 6. The “What I stand for” meeting will be held on October 13.

Polling would begin at 10 AM on October 14 while the counting of votes would begin at 2 PM. The election results will be declared in the late afternoon.

The swearing-in program will be held on October 15.
