Puri included in ‘Hriday’ scheme

Puri: In a bid to promote and develop the infrastructure facility of Jagannathdham, the Central government has included the city under the ‘Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana’ (Hriday).

Under this scheme the union government will provide an assistance of Rs 22 crore to the state government which will be used within a period of four years for the development of infrastructure facilities and promoting tourism and ancient sculptures of the city.

Besides Puri, 11 other cities across the country Varanasi, Amritsar, Kanchipuram, Ajmer, Badami, Mathura, Gaya, Dwarka, Waranagal, Amaravati, Vellankanni have been included in the planned project which will be launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 21.
