Odisha increases Kendu leaf procurement price
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Wednesday increased procurement price of kendu leaves to 70 paise per Kerry.
The decision was taken at a Kendu Leaf Board meeting chaired by chief minister Naveen Patnaik at the secretariat here.
It was also decided dividends of 25 per cent and special additional dividends of 25 per cents for droughts shall be disbursed to pluckers for 2015 which will benefit nearly 7.90 lakh pluckers in the State.
An official release said incentive award at the rate of 10 per cent of monthly wages shall be paid to the seasonal staff. This will benefit 18 thousand seasonal staff. It added incentive award at the rate of 10 per cent of their total wages shall be disbursed to the binders which will benefit twenty thousand binders.
The release said funds to the tune of Rs five crore to Welfare Trust of Kendu Leaf Pluckers and Binders and similarly Rs one crore to the Welfare Trust of seasonal staff shall be made available fir undertaking their respective mandates.
