‘Maha Navami’ celebrated with devotion

Bhubaneswar: ‘Maha Nabami’ of Maa Durga was celebrated across Odisha with religious fervor, gaiety and traditional grandeur. Large number of crowd thronged puja mandaps and temples where special rituals were performed.

Though the Maha Nabami was celebrated at puja mandaps, Vijaya Dashami was observed at the peethas.

In Bhubaneswar, visitors enjoyed colorful decorations and designs of the pandals at Patia, Damana, Hata Sahi in Old Bhubaneswar, Rabi Talkies Square, Cuttack Road Byabasaye Sangh, Bargarh, Tankapani Road, Brahmeshwar Patna, Ashok Nagar, Bhoumanagar and Chandraskeharpur District Centre Owners’ Association.
Adding to the glitter, gold and silver crowns and jewelleries of the goddess made visitors spell bound with the beauty of the deity.

In Cuttack, huge number of devotees jammed the pandals at Mangalabag, Badambadi, Khannagar, Choudhry Bazaar, College Chhak, Sikharpur, Chauliaganj.

Besides, decorated pandals in Balasore, Berhampur, Sambalpur and Rourkela drew hordes of visitors.

To maintain law and order, the Commissionerate Police made special arrangement in the twin city. Total 88 platoons of police force were deployed in the towns.

Police Commissioner RP Sharma and DCPs reviewed the security arrangements at the pandals.
“They (puja mandap committee) have made CCTV and volunteer arrangements to assist police which is quite helpful,” said Sharma.
