JMM’s call for M’bhanj bandh hits normal life
Baripada: Normal life was disrupted across Mayurbhanj district today due to the dawn-to-dusk bandh observed by Jharkahnd Mukti Morcha (JMM) protesting closure of Baripada Urban Co-operative Bank . The party demanded re-opening of the bank, immediate refund of money and financial assistance to the depositors.
The bandh was supported by others organisations in the district.
Party activists blocked roads at many places including Udala, Karanjia, Rairangpur. Vehicular traffic came to a grinding halt in the district. All educational institutes, private organisations and business establishments remained closed.
Rail communication between Baripada and Balasore was hit due to the agitation. Many heavy vehicles stood off the road near Jamasola check gate.
Adequate police forces have been deployed at all sensitive points keeping in view any possible untoward incident.
Notably, the State government has closed the co-operative bank following the order of RBI.
