Dreaded criminal brothers nabbed; ammunition seized
Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: In a major breakthrough, Commissionerate Police on Friday arrested two dreaded criminal brothers – Sushant Dhalasamant and Sushil Dhalasamant – on extortion and tender fixing charges from a rented house in Pokhariput area here.
“Cuttack (DCP) Sanjeev Arora was tipped off that the brothers were hiding in a house at Pokhariput area in Bhubaneswar. A team from Cuttack raided the house and arrested them. Initially, three revolvers, 108 rounds of bullets and Rs 10 lakh cash were seized from their possession,” police commissioner YB Khurania said.
Addressing a press meet, the commissioner said Sushant Dhalsamant, wanted in three murder case, was absconding since 2004. Chauliaganj police had registered a case against the two brothers following a direction by the Cuttack SDJM court, he added.
Their criminal activities started in 1993. Since then, they have been involved in criminal activities like murder, dacoity, extortion and tender fixing. But people were afraid of lodging complaint against them,” the commissioner said appealing to the citizens of Cuttack who have been victimized by them to come to the police fearlessly and lodge their complaint.
Police also raided their house at CDA, Cuttack. “As per the latest report, Rs 2 crore in cash has been seized in the raid. Further search is on. We will inform the income tax department about their fiscal transactions and also seek Enforcement Directorate’s intervention in this regard,” he pointed out.
“Sushant used to assume various fake identities at various places. Mostly, he stayed at Vishakhapatnam. His crime network allegedly extended to Mumbai. We suspect their network in other cities too,”A Khurania said.
A case against the two brothers has been registered under section 302, 134,324,325,279,506 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Arms Act, Khurania said
