Barsha Sony case: Balasore court orders Rs 25k/month as interim maintenance

Balasore: In the much hyped dowry torture case filed by Barsha Sony Choudhury, the estranged daughter-in-law of former law minister and senior BJD leader Raghunath Mohanty , the Balasore Family Court on Thursday asked the petitioner’s husband Rajashree Mohanty to pay Rs 25, 000 per month as interim maintenance to her.

Barsha Sony’s advocate argued that Rajashree is working at private company with a monthly pay package of Rs 1.6 lakh. His annual income is around Rs 30 lakh including the profits he earned from his hotel and land holdings.

On the other hand, Rajashree’s lawyer said he will challenge the judgment of family court in the High Court. “Rajashree is a student of a local Law College. As a student, how can he pay such amount”, lawyer said.

“We respect the court but are unhappy over the verdict. We will move the High Court against such judgment”, the lawyer added.

Meanwhile, petitioner Barsha Sony said she will decide the next course of action after receiving judgment copy.
