Boy suffers critical injury in bear attack in Mayurbhanj

Mayurbhanj: A minor boy was critically injured after he was attacked by a wild bear while celebrating Makar Sankranti at Kantisahi village under Khunta police limits in Mayurbhanj today.

Following the attack, the boy identified as Subhankar Bindhani received grievous injuries on his back and admitted to the Udala Sub-Divisional Hospital.

According to reports, when Subhankar was lighting bonfire with his friends early morning, the bear, believed to have strayed into the village from nearby jungle attacked him.

Subsequently, Subhankar’s friends chased the animal away and later admitted him to the hospital where he is undergoing treatment and is stated to be stable.
