The irate villagers demanded that the jumbos be chased away from their village and suitable compensation for the damaged crops provided to them.
Following the horrifying incident, the villagers got angry and killed the animal.
"We will definitely take action as the location where the incident took place is beyond the forest limits and there is a road on the other side of the railway track. The location is not a passage for elephants and the road is at a higher altitude," said Shashi Paul, PCCF.
Even though the tusker charged dangerously at him, Miri stood firm on his ground. After a brief stalemate, the pachyderm decided to back off and gently walked away into the nearby forest.
