Officials expect around five lakh pilgrims to take the holy dip on Friday.
Wishing people on Magh Bihu, the Prime Minister said, "Magh Bihu greetings to you all. I pray that this festival enhances happiness and prosperity in everyone's lives."
The festival is also celebrated in a grand way at the Jagannath Tempel in Puri, at Hatakeshwar temple at Atri in Khordha district, Dhabaleswar Temple in Cuttack and Makara Muni temple in Balasore.
