BJP Mayurbhanj dist chief, 3 others sent to jail
All the four have been sent to jail in connection with the Jamsola check gate staff attack case.
Baripada: The Mayurbhanj Special Judge court today sent BJP Mayurbhanj district president Krushna Chandra Mohapatra and three other party leaders to jail after their surrender before the court in connection with the Jamsola check gate staff attack case.
The court also rejected the bail plea moved by Krushna Chandra, Chotalal Mahanta, Nihar Modi and Prakash Agarwal during the hearing of the case.
The BJP Mayurbhanj district president along with some supporters in May last year had allegedly abused Kulamani Bhoi, the then STO at the Jamsola check gate, allegedly in abusive language while making casteist remarks. Besides, the BJP leaders beat up the check gate staff and issued life threats.
While being taken to the jail, Krushna Chandra said in his reaction, “After facing an electoral loss in the recently held panchayat polls in Mayurbhanj, the ruling party hatched a conspiracy to put me in jail.”
