The Odisha government has appointed 2021-batch IAS officer Prathamesh Arvind Rajeshirke as the new Commissioner of Berhampur Municipal Corporation, transferring him from Balasore.

According to reliable sources, the EPFO officer was caught in the act while demanding and accepting the bribe in exchange for providing a digital signature—a key requirement for processing official documentation for companies under the EPFO framework.

According to the senior police official, two separate teams were formed after the case was registered. All the accused belong from the same village.

Police nabbed two from Gujarat linked to the Rs 14 lakh digital arrest of Berhampur University's VC, Prof. Geetanjali Dash. They had threatened Dash by saying she was under digital arrest for four days. A detailed probe into the crime is underway.
