Bargarh district Collector on Friday directed the district civil supplies department to suspend a supply assistant for not distributing rice to beneficiaries for seven months. 

Hearing the complaints, the court ordered the plaza to pay Rs 25,000 each to two vehicle owners as fine. The court also ordered the toll plaza to pay them Rs 5000 each towards their legal expenses.

Two youths were trampled to death by two wild elephants in separate incidents reported from Bargarh district on Sunday. 

A garbage pile near a house on the police reserve campus was burning this morning. Twin sons of a police official were basking near the fire when a cracker, which was thrown into the pile, exploded. The 7-year-old kids sustained critical burns.

Four youths were passing through Sahutikra village. Some residents suspected the four to be thieves and detained them. At that time, one of them managed to escape while the villagers mercilessly beat up the other three.

Acting on a tipoff about drug abuse in the picnic party, a team of police personnel raided the party, but they could not get anything related to establish the allegations.

As per reports, Agarwal, from Bargarh had procured rice from many rice mill owners in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh and Boudh districts on credit. However, he failed to pay up the millers after losing Rs 80 lakh to betting.

In a preparatory meeting on the paddy procurement for this Kharif season which was held at the DRDO office in Bargarh on Friday, the farmers alleged that despite lifting paddy from the farmers, the government is yet to pay some farmers in the region.

On Thursday morning, the Income Tax Department officials conducted raids simultaneously at the mill, its office, and the residence of the mill’s Chartered Accountant.
