Bhubaneswar turns hot cauldron, records 43 degree Celsius

Odisha capital city Bhubaneswar on Sunday recorded its season's highest temperature of 43 degree Celsius.

As per data released by the India Meteorological Department's Regional Centre, six towns in the State recorded temperature above 40 degree Celsius till 2.30 pm in the day.

Apart from Bhubanewar, Jharsuguda recorded 41.4 degree Celsius followed by Sambalpur and Chandbali at 40.8 degree Celsius.

On Saturday, Bhubaneswar recorded a maximum temperature of 41.7 degrees. Apart from Bhubaneswar, 22 places in the State recorded maximum temperature of 40 degrees or above yesterday.

Angul recorded the highest temperature of 42.1 degree Celsius on Saturday.

The weather agency on Saturday said the maximum temperature (Day Temperature) is  very likely to gradually rise by 3 to 5 degree Celsius at many places over the districts of Interior Odisha during the next three days.

"Due to Northwesterly-Westerly dry air and high solar insolation Maximum temperature (Day Temperature) is very likely to gradually rise by 3 to 5°C at many places over the districts of Interior Odisha during next 3 days and no large change thereafter over the districts of Odisha," Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar said in a release.

"Consequently maximum temperature (Day Temperature) likely to be more than 40°C at many places over the districts of Odisha and likely to be above normal by 2 to 4°C during next 2 days over the districts of Odisha and likely to be above normal by 3 to 5°C over the districts of Interior Odisha in subsequent 3 days," it added.
