Brave baby elephant escapes lions in heart-pounding wildlife moment; watch

In a gripping video that has gone viral, lions had a chance to hunt a baby elephant. The video, shared on Latest Sightings' YouTube channel, was originally filmed by Brent Schnupp at the Kruger National Park, South Africa. 

At first, it seemed peaceful with a male lion crossing the road, joined by two others. Their tranquillity was disrupted when a distressed adult female elephant crossed the road in a hurry, unknowingly leaving her vulnerable calf behind.

Schnupp revealed, "Sensing an opportunity, the lions realized the mother elephant had left her calf. The younger male lion led in chasing the defenseless baby elephant, while the older male lion and lioness seemed less interested."

The video unfolds with the baby elephant searching for its mother, closely followed by three lions. At one point, the elephant turns around, startling the lions. Fortunately, the baby elephant manages to escape before the lions get too close.
Shared on September 26, the video has garnered over eight lakh views and 1,000 likes. 

The intense encounter between the lions and the baby elephant captured the attention of a wide online audience. Many viewers shared their reactions in the comments section.

One user wrote, “The baby elephant did so well! Always keeping an eye on what's behind.” Another wrote, “Nature at its best they are not trying to have dinner, they are getting the baby to its group I don't think people realize that.”
