In a world with limited mobile data plans, conserving data is crucial. To help with this, iPhones have a feature called Low Data Mode.

It optimises app behavior, restricts background data, and reduces data usage.

Here is how to enable the 'Low Data Mode' on your iPhone and its benefits.

Enabling Low Data Mode

To activate Low Data Mode on your iPhone, adhere to the following steps.

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Scroll down and tap on "Cellular" or "Mobile Data"
  3. Click on "Cellular Data Options" in the "Setting" section.
  4. Look for the "Low Data Mode" toggle and click on it to turn it on (the switch will turn green).

Low Data Mode

Here are a few important points to keep in mind about Low Data Mode.

  1. Low Data Mode affects app behavior and system services. It may limit background app refresh, automatic downloads, and visual effects.
  2. Enabling Low Data Mode may impact the functionality or performance of some apps, such as compromising high-quality media streaming.
  3. Not all apps will immediately respond to Low Data Mode as its support depends on how developers have implemented it.
  4. Low Data Mode settings only apply to cellular data usage and do not affect Wi-Fi usage.
  5. To activate Low Data Mode, go to "Cellular Data Options" and toggle it on; it stays enabled until manually turned off to restore regular data usage.
