In the summer, when it gets really hot and humid, people often find themselves in need of an air conditioner (AC).

If you are on the lookout for a good AC this summer in 2024, here is a simple guide to help you understand the technical details and choose the best one for you:

Type of ACs

When it comes to ACs, window units are usually cheaper and easier to install compared to split ACs.

They provide efficient cooling with less noise. However, modern split ACs are also user-friendly and easy to maintain.

Split ACs come in two categories- conventional (non-inverter) and inverter. Inverter ACs are more efficient in cooling and consume less power.

Cooling Capacity

ACs come in various cooling capacities, typically ranging from 0.8 tons to 2 tons. A 0.8-ton AC can cool an area of up to 100 square feet, with prices starting from around Rs 25,000.

On the other hand, a 2-ton AC can cover up to 400 square feet, starting at around Rs 40,000.

The size of the AC matters for efficient cooling. A larger AC can cool a room faster than a smaller one.

However, cooling performance also depends on factors like external temperature, fan speed, and AC mode.

ACs Rating

Energy efficiency is another important factor to consider when buying an AC. Look for the BEE star rating, where a higher rating indicates greater efficiency. ACs with a 5-star rating are more efficient than those with lower ratings.

During the daytime, ACs consumes more power compared to nighttime when the ambient temperature is lower, and the AC does not have to work as hard.

Most split ACs come with smart features and air filtering capabilities in India. Ultimately, the best AC for you depends on your brand preference, budget, and specific needs.
