Team India’s promising batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal was at his explosive best during India’s second T20I match against Australia at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday.

The southpaw scored a brisk half century of 53 runs in just 25 balls. Along with Ruturaj Gaikwad, he provided a brilliant start to India after the hosts were put into bat first.

In the process, Jaiswal registered a unique record. He scored the most runs by an Indian batter in the powerplay of a T20I game.

Moreover, Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan led India’s batting charge to set up a convincing 44-run win over Australia. Apart from Jaiswal, Kishan hit 52 off 32 deliveries to help India score a mammoth total of 235 runs for the loss of four wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Spinner Ravi Bishnoi and fast bowler Prasidh Krishna captured three wickets each as the hosts restricted Australia to 191 for the loss of nine wickets. With the convincing victory, the Men in Blue extended their lead to 2-0 in the five-match series.
