A nine-hour bandh is being observed at Saintala in Bolangir district on Sunday. Titlagarh Congress has called for the bandh seeking fulfillment of various demands including NAC tag for Saintala, completion of the partially constructed bridge over Lantha river connecting Saintala and Badipada, filling of the lying vacant doctors’ posts in Saintala hospital and water supply to Saintala block square.

While shops and business establishments remained closed, vehicular movement came to a grinding halt at various places in Saintala due to the bandh.

“People of as many as five panchayats are facing lot of problems due to the absence of a bridge over Lantha river connecting Saintala and Badipada. However, the bridge is yet to be completed even though the construction work started five years ago. We don’t know the reason why the administration is neglecting Saintala so much. Is it because they are not getting votes from the area?” asked Congress worker Subrat behera.

“Several doctors’ posts are lying vacant in Saintala hospital and as a result, patients in the area are getting neglected in their treatment. We demand filling up of the lying vacant doctors’ posts in the hospital at the earliest,” he added.
