A salesman of a reputed medicine store chain in Bhubaneswar was detained by police after he allegedly sold a pain relief spray to a woman.

As per reports, the woman with a doctor’s prescription went to the chemist shop in Bhubaneswar’s Chandrasekharpur area to buy medicines prescribed by the physician for her daughter’s throat infection.

However, as per the allegation, the salesperson at the chemist shop gave her a pain relief spray along with other medicines. When the woman sprayed the pain reliever in the mouth of her daughter the latter became unwell and was subsequently admitted to a hospital.

Speaking about the incident, the mother of the child, BK Bhawna said, “I did not see the prescription and sprayed the painkiller in the mouth of my child two-three times. When I smelled the spray, it felt like Diclofenac to me. I immediately got her mouth washed but after some time she looked imbalanced to me. So I took her to the hospital for treatment.”

“Neither the license holder nor the owner of the chemist shop came to me after waiting for them for more than two hours. So I was forced to take the help of the police,” she added.

A complaint was lodged at Chandrasekharpur Police Station in this connection following which the salesperson has reportedly been detained for questioning.

Sources informed that the salesperson has not cleared matric exams.
