BJP's Berhampur Lok Sabha candidate Pradeep Panigrahi and Independent candidate Shibashankar Das, who is contesting from the Berhampur Assembly seat, reportedly came to blows at Gosani Nuagaon on Monday while the polling was underway at the booth in Utkalmani UP School.

As per reports, Panigrahi suffered minor injuries in the clash. He was rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital.

After Das was detained at the Gosani Nuagaon Police Station, his supporters created a ruckus. While the supporters of Das alleged that booth rigging was being done, the supporters of Panigrahi claimed that the issue cropped up over the sealing of the EVMs, leading to commotion.

Tension prevailed on the premises of the police station. The supporters of Das staged a sit-in and demanded his immediate release.

However, no reactions were received from the two leaders and the police.
