 A coordinated approach is currently underway for making the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup-2023 in Bhubaneswar a grand success, said DCP Prateek Singh.

In an exclusive interview to OTV, Singh said a lot of focus will be on the World Cup as it will be one of the major international events. So far, the preparations are on the right track and the Commissionerate Police is working in coordination with all stakeholders and agencies, he said.

“Security of players and spectators will be our top priority, and a holistic plan is being made for the same,” said Singh.

While elaborating on the challenges for the Commissionerate Police in 2023, the Bhubaneswar DCP said that such big events along with law and order will always be challenging. At the same time, fight against drugs, checking crime against women and vulnerable sections will also be given top priority in the new year.

“Keeping the city safe is also on our focus areas. The CCTV camera systems are being strengthened and we are also working on video analytics. New equipment are also being brought for the crime cyber forensics,” said Singh.

According to Singh, the Commissionerate Police is planning to improve response in various cyber crime related incidents which are registering a sharp increase these days.

“We are empowering the cyber wing for better detections. At the same time, we are focusing on creating awareness regarding various cyber crimes among students. Now we are planning to extended cyber crime awareness programmes in colleges as well. Under the programme, students and youngsters will be given training and tips,” Singh added.
