Former Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP N. Bhaskar Rao on Tuesday announced his resignation from the party, citing dissatisfaction with its functioning.

At a press conference in Rayagada, Rao declared that he was quitting the primary membership of BJD and expressed his disappointment over the party’s approach in recent years.

Rao, who had earlier represented the party in Parliament, said he would continue his political journey by launching a new outfit called the 'Biju Swabhiman Manch', aimed at safeguarding the ideals of late Biju Patnaik.
