In a bid to ensure safety and security of players across the country and abroad for the forthcoming FIH Odisha Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023, Commissionerate Police took stock of the security measures at different hotels in Bhubaneswar on Friday.

The security arrangement at the hotels was assessed in the Capital City under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Prateek Singh ahead of the mega event to be played at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar and the newly-constructed Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium in Rourkela from January 13 to 29.

Players, coaches and supporting staff of 16 teams will reside in nine hotels. A blue print has been made for it, and it will be finalised after the assessment of security arrangements.

“We took stock about the places and points where security deployment is essential. Planning has been made to isolate players and other customers of the hotels during the event. Control room and the deployment of the security officials have also been planned,” said Singh.

“We will ensure that all the players will remain safe, from security point of view. We have also made an elaborate plan for their smooth movement from the team hotels to stadiums and vice versa,” he added.

As per a hotel owner, all the necessary security arrangements have been made for the safety of the players as per the protocol.

“As per the direction of the DCP, all the security arrangements have been made at the hotel. We are confident that there will be no security issue during the mega event,” he said.
