Several investors, duped by various chit fund firms, hit the streets in Balasore demanding speedy investigations into the cheating and swindling cases and appropriate action against the actual culprits who fled with poor people’s savings.

Agitating under the banner of Balasore Jamakari Milita Mancha (BJMM), the victims carried out the protest in front of Balasore Tehsil office. They shouted slogans and held placards and banners against the inactivity of the district administration.

As per the protestors, more than 50,00,000 victims are still to get back their money which they have lost to various chit fund companies.

“The State government had earlier promised us to identify the victims and return their money. However, the government seems to have forgot about their promise,” said BJMM convener Jayant Das.

“We were forced to hit the streets because of the lackadaisical attitude of the State government. Less number of victims have joined the protest today due to Covid-19 guidelines. However, we are continuing our protest at various places through online mode. We will intensify our protests if our demands are not met at the earliest,” said Das.

“I had invested my hard-earned money in three companies, but they were found to be chit fund companies. I have not been identified as a chit fund victim by the government. I urge the government to take necessary steps to return our money back at the earliest,” said another protestor.
