Rainfall in Bhubaneswar

Odisha is once again bracing for a fresh spell of intense rainfall as the Regional Meteorological Centre on Sunday predicted heavy to very heavy showers across the state till September 13. According to the forecast, several parts of the state are likely to experience widespread rainfall activity over the next six days, which may also trigger localised waterlogging in low-lying areas.

The Met Centre has specifically issued a Yellow Warning for eight districts on Monday, alerting residents and authorities to be prepared for heavy downpours. The districts under warning include Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, and Balangir. These regions, mostly located in southern and western Odisha, are expected to witness intense spells of rain accompanied by thunderstorms at isolated places.

Officials have advised the district administrations to remain alert to tackle any possible disruption caused by the heavy rainfall, including damage to standing crops, waterlogging in urban pockets, and minor flooding in rivers and streams. Fishermen have also been cautioned against venturing into deep sea areas during this period due to rough weather conditions.

With the monsoon still active over the region, the possibility of further weather alerts cannot be ruled out. Citizens are urged to stay updated with the latest advisories issued by the Meteorological Department and follow precautionary measures to ensure safety.
