Shah Rukh Khan , Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham-starrer Pathaan has landed in controversy triggering outrage in different quarters. While fans were celebrating Deepika’s birthday on Thursday, the latest update left some bewildered while some heaved a sigh of relief.
Amid controversies and backlash, Pathaan was sent through a Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) scanner as a part of the certification process. As anticipated by everyone, CBFC has suggested notable changes including slashing of ‘vulgar’ shots in ‘Besharam Rang’, featuring Deepika and SRK.
Vulgarity in Beshram Rang to be curtailed
Deepika’s ‘vulgar’ costume and sensual dance moves in ‘Besharam Rang ’ triggered multiple controversies. However, in the purported document from CBFC, the Board has suggested the makers for some changes to the song.
As per the document, “The song ‘Besharam Rang’ replaces the following with suitable shots, a) Close-up shots of buttocks, b) During the lyrics ‘bahut tang kiya…’ the visuals of sensuous dance movements are suitably curtailed, c) Side pose (partial nudity).” Though the colour of Deepika’s bikini remains untouched, the CBFC has recommended major modifications for the song.
More suggestions recommended by CBFC
Apart from major changes in ‘Besharam Rang’, the Board has also prioritized the replacement of the word RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) with ‘Hamare (our)’ twice. Furthermore, the dialogue ‘Langde Lule’ will be replaced with ‘Toote Foote’.
The list also includes the replacement of PM and PMO (Prime Minister’s Office) with President and Minister for a total of 13 times. References to Russia and its intelligence agency KGB shall also be replaced with generic terms. CBFC has also replaced the name of the award Ashok Chakra with a fictitious name.
