More skeletons are tumbling out of the cupboard of Japa Bandhu Kampa, revealing how he was duping job aspirants of lakhs of rupees for his alleged links with a BJD MP.

OTV has accessed evidence of how Kampa duped job seekers on the pretext of providing jobs, using his institute as a smokescreen.

A victim identified as Purnachandra Rout had given Rs 4 lakh to Kampa for a job in the district administration. When Kampa failed to arrange a job for him, Rout started asking for his money. Instead of returning money, he was threatening him with dire consequences.

“When we frequently went to him, he gave me a cheque, asking me to deposit after five to six days.  The cheque was in the name of Dibya Lochan Behera. When enquired, I learnt that the account had no sufficient balance,” said Rout.

On the complaint of Rout, Kampa was arrested and is now lodged in jail.

Meanwhile, Dibya Lochan Behera, who was working as a middleman for Kampa, also came out against him.

“Whenever I warned him of the consequences, he would say tribal leader and BJD Rajya Sabha MP Niranjan Bisi is close to him and nobody can harm him,” said Behera.

Informing about the case, Bolangir SDPO Pradeep Kumar Sahu said, “Purnachandra Rout has lodged a complaint alleging that Kampa had taken Rs 4.5 lakh from him, promising him a government job. On the basis of his complaint, we have registered a case and arrested Kampa. We request all the victims to come forward and lodge a complaint against Kampa so that we can cooperate with them and proceed with our investigation. Our investigation is on and we may bring him on remand.”

Despite our attempts, BJD MP Niranjan Bisi couldn’t be contacted for his comments.
