The curry is best served with steaming hot rice or roti and parathas.
Ingredient required
- 500 gms chicken
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 4 tsp curd
- 50 ml mustard oil
- 3 medium size potatoes
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 bay leaves
- 2 inches cinnamon
- 2 cardamoms
- 3 chopped onions
- 2 large onions (make a paste)
- 4-5 tsp of ginger/garlic paste
- 1 large tomato (chopped)
- 1 1/2 tsp Red chili powder
- 2 tsp of cinnamon & cardamom powder
How to make
- Marinate the chicken with turmeric powder, salt & curd. Keep it aside.
- Heat mustard oil on frying pan, then add potato & fry for some time till it turns into golden brown. Then remove it & keep it on a plate aside.
- Again add some oil in the frying pan and add bay leaf, cinnamon & cardamom.
- Now add onion paste & ginger garlic paste and stir for another 3-4 mins.
- Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder and red chili powder and mix well.
- Add little water. When the water dries out and oil begins to separate from the masala, add chicken. Mix it all properly.
- Then stir the same continuously for about 15-20 minutes.
- Then add the fried potatoes and a cup of water. Cover the pan & let it cook for 10 minutes on medium flame till the potato & chicken are properly cooked.
- Finally, add cinnamon, cardamom powder and chopped coriander leaves and switch off the flame. Odia-style chicken curry is ready to serve.
