The Odisha Government on Wednesday extended the partial lockdown, imposed to contain the spread of Covid infection in the State, till July 16  (6 am), informed the State Chief Secretary, Suresh Mohapatra.

Though the Covid-19 graphs in majority of districts in the State have waned, the situation is still far from satisfactory in some districts, especially in the coastal belts of Odisha.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to issue fresh guidelines for providing minimum standards of financial help to families of those who lost their lives to COVID-19.

India reported 45,951 new Covid-19 cases and 817 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to data released by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry on Wednesday. This is lowest deaths due to Covid since April 10.

India's Covaxin, developed by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research, effectively neutralises both Alpha and Delta variants of coronavirus, the US' National Institute of Health has said.

Though the COVID graph has dipped in many districts, the situation in Khordha, Puri, Cuttack, Balasore and Jajpur are still far from satisfactory.

"The company has received permission from Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) to import Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine for restricted emergency use in the country."
