The cumulative death figures in Odisha surpassed the 4000-mark after the State added 48 more fatalities, its highest single-day Covid-19 count since the onset of the pandemic. 
As per the data shared by the State Health and Family Welfare, the Covid-19 death toll in the State has surged to 4,018.

Seven fatalities have been reported from Khordha district (5 from Bhubaneswar), five each from Cuttack and Nayagarh, four each from Ganjam and Sundargarh, three each from Bargarh, Boudh and Dhenkanal.

Similarly, two deaths have been reported from Angul, Balasore, Bhadrak and Jharsuguda districts and one each from Jagatsinghpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Koraput, Puri and Sambalpur, stated the Health Department. 

Meanwhile, the daily infection numbers of Covid continues to oscillate in the State with as many as 3,371 persons testing positive for the Coronavirus in the last 24 hours, just a day after the positive figures dropped to 2640,  a record low in over two months. 

The total Covid cases in Odisha have climbed to 9,09,800 with the addition of the new positives, said the Information and Public Relations Department on Wednesday morning.

As many as 1,922 cases have been detected from quarantine, while the rest 1,449 are local contact cases.

Khordha district, which includes the capital Bhubaneswar, has reported the highest 530 cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Cuttack (468), Balasore (258), Mayurbhanj (222), Kendrapara (219), Jajpur (210), Puri (193), Bhadrak (176), Jagatsinghpur (135) and Nayagarh (135).

As many as 19 districts reported cases below 100. Those are - Angul (93), Malkangiri (80), Sundargarh (72), Keonjhar (70), Rayagada (59), Dhenkanal (58), Koraput (52), Bargarh (35), Nabarangpur (34), Kandhamal (29), Sambalpur (22), Ganjam (21), Boudh (19), Jharsuguda (15), Balangir (12), Gajapati (12), Kalahandi (11), Nuapada (8) and Deogarh (3).

The active Corona cases in Odisha remained at 31,422  while 8,74,307 patients have recovered, including 3,520 on Tuesday.

The State has so far tested over 1,37,59,870 samples for Covid-19, including 75,649 in the last 24 hours.
