Six arrested for torching truck after mishap at Damana
Bhubaneswar: Six persons were arrested in the recent Damana-Sailashree Vihar road accident for allegedly attacking the police and torching the truck. The infuriated locals went out of control after a speeding truck rammed over a student along with his bike, killing him on the spot. The mob set ablaze the vehicle and pelted stones at policemen who rushed to the spot to control the situation. They further blocked the road preventing traffic movement for more than an hour and a half.
According to sources the deceased was identified as Ashis Kumar (19), a college student hailing from Bihar. The accident occurred while he was returning from Damana vegetable market when a speeding truck hit him from behind trampling him under the wheels.
However, police intervened the matter with a mild latthi charge to disperse the mob after the protest went violent.
