Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) at Jatni in Khurda.
The Prime Minister left for NISER campus from Raj Bhavan here at around 8:30 am. He reached the campus of the science institute in a special flight at around 9 am. He was welcomed by the students of the institute.
Among others, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Governor SC Jamir, Petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Tribal Affairs minister Jual Oram were present during the inauguration of the premier science institute.
PM Narendra Modi also felicitated Lalita Prasida Sripada Srisai, who won the top award at Google Science Fair, ASHA Worker Jamuna Mani Singh (Balasore), who worked towards malaria eradication and student scientist Srikant Sahu (Nabarangpur), who won a national skill contest.
While addressing the gathering at the science institute, Modi asked authorities to make it a Greenest Campus of India in two years.
Besides, he also asked the students of NISER to hold workshops and taring programmes for school teachers across the country. He also appealed the students of NISER to visit science schools and encourage the students in the field of new innovation.
Later, the Prime Minister visited the 12th Century Lord Jagannath Temple at Puri. This is Modi’s first visit to Puri temple and second visit to the state after becoming the Prime Minister.
