Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has formed a seven-member team for an extensive report on drought situation in the state. Official sources said basing on the report, the agriculture department will recommend the state government for future course of action.
The team is expected to submit the report within seven days, added sources.
Besides, a Central team is scheduled to visit the state very soon to take a stock of the situation in the state because of deficient rainfall.
The team to be headed by Additional Commissioner of the Agriculture Ministry RP Mallik will visit Odisha for assessment of the gravity of the situation and recommend remedial measures. The team will comprise senior officials of the Odisha Government and a representative of the ICAR-Central Rice Research Institute, Cuttack.
Sources said Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Radha Mohan Singh has directed the Ministry to constitute the Central team to take stock of the situation.
