Bhubaneswar: The power crisis ghost is likely to haunt again the people of Odisha after November 7 as electricity transmitter and distributor Gridco in the State hinted that hydro power projects will produce as per the requirements till the beginning of the second week of the month.
An official of Gridco said the hydro power projects are generating additional 7,000 MW to compensate the shortfall.
Meanwhile, disagreement over rate for power purchase is the bottleneck in finalizing a deal between private electricity generators and Gridco. While Gridco has sought OERC’s approval for power purchase at Rs 2.75 per unit, private companies are firm at minimum rate of Rs 3.20 per unit.
Earlier, the State government had said power cuts would not done from October 15 till November 11, adding that a decision will be taken on load shedding in second week of November after a review.
