Bhubaneswar: With the three-day remand of the Trahi Achyuta ashram chief Surendra Mishra aka Sura Baba and his two sons Trilochan and Biranchi ending today, the State probe agency Crime Branch is supposed to appeal the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court here to take the trio for more five-day remand for further investigation.
Earlier on September 1, the JMFC court allowed the commissionerate police to take trio on a three-day remand. The police had sought a five-day remand of the father-son trio against whom allegations of government land grabbing and social misconduct have been levelled.
Meanwhile, Crime Branch had yesterday traced Rs 2.40 crore cash deposit in the bank accounts of Mishra, his wife and two sons in State Bank of India, Achyuta Nagar branch. Besides, a Crime Branch team also found bundles of notes of Rs 1,000 denomination from an office behind ‘Pothighara’ in the ashram.
Notably, a 12-member team of Crime Branch visited the ashram to probe the case. They also went to the SBI branch in Trahi Achyuta Nagar to examine the bank accounts of Sura baba, wife and his sons.
